USA hockey recently announced a mandate, effective Aug 1, 2024, that all players will be required to wear a cut-resistant neck guard. They have not incorporated the need for wrist protection as of this article being written, however the statistics behind injuries to the wrist should be considered when choosing protective equipment, as 27% of all hockey related injuries are lacerations, with the head, neck, and wrist as the top areas of occurrence.
